Training Division

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office Training Section manages all in-service training required by the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standard Division. This includes legal updates, weapon qualifications, OSHA training, defensive tactics, to name a few. Each deputy goes through at least 50 hours of in-service training per year. The Training Section is also responsible for coordinating all specialized training for deputies, detention officers, and civilians.

Upon completion of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) and hiring, deputies are then assigned a Field Training Officer for 420 additional hours of on-the-job training. Deputy’s continue to receive general and specialized training throughout their careers with the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Training Division also serves as the Sheriff’s Office testing and evaluation of new law enforcement tools, equipment, and resources.
