Medicine Drop Box
It is Everyone’s Responsibility to Safely Dispose of Meds
Locally, Operation Medicine Drop is a partnership between local police departments and the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office. State-wide, it is a combination of Safe Kids of North Carolina, NC State Bureau of Investigation, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of North Carolina and local law enforcement agencies working together to encourage the public to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medication.
By providing safe and secure ways for people to get rid of unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications, Operation Medicine Drop helps prevent accidental poisonings and drug abuse while protecting our waters.
Operation Medicine Drop holds several local events each year at public locations. During events, all unwanted medicine is collected so it can be disposed of properly without polluting our water supplies or being used illegally.
The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office has a medicine drop box located in the lobby of our office in the courthouse.
