About Us

The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is the principal law enforcement agency serving a population of approximately 58,000 citizens expanding over 819 square miles. We are located in the southeastern coastal plain of North Carolina in the historic town of Kenansville.

Under the leadership of Sheriff Blake Wallace, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office has 102 full time employees and 19 part time employees providing service to the public twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The main functions of the sheriff’s office include:

  • Patrolling the rural roads of the county as well as the busy highways of Interstate 40, US 24, US 41, US 50, US 117, US 241 and US 903

  • Providing law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of the county as well as contract police service to the towns of Faison and Calypso

  • Investigation of all crimes of violence and fraud

  • Recovering stolen property, collecting and securing of evidence

  • Serving warrants and civil papers

  • Summoning jurors and witnesses to appear in court, opening and closing sessions of court, and providing security services inside the courtroom as well as for the entire courthouse

  • Operating the county jail providing custody for both pre-trail and sentenced defendants

  • Transportation of inmates and mental patients

  • Processing and issuing of concealed weapons permits and gun purchase permits

  • Maintaining the sex offender registry in compliance with the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registration Program

In 2015, the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office received approximately 29,309 calls for service which resulted in 2,350 reports or investigations being created. Deputies processed 6,487 civil papers.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office is to protect the citizens of Duplin County through law enforcement of civil and criminal laws, operation of a professional and secure detention facility, outstanding public service with integrity and upholding the constitutionality of the office of sheriff.
